The ASA Northwest Region 15 is one of many associations in the United States serving teams/players, coaches, and umpires in the sport of Softball. The Amateur Softball Association (ASA), a volunteer driven, not-for-profit organization based in Oklahoma City, OK, was founded in 1933 and has evolved into the strongest softball organization in the country. The growth and development of the association led the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) to name the ASA the National Governing Body of Softball, pursuant to the Amateur Sports Act of 1978.

The ASA has many important responsibilities as the national governing body of softball in the United States, including regulating competition to insure fairness and equal opportunity to the millions of player who annually play the sport.

When the ASA entered the softball picture in 1933, the sport was in a state of confusion with no unified set of playing rules and no national governing body to provide guidance and stability. The ASA changed all that by adopting softball's first universally accepted rules of play and by organizing consistent and fair competition across the nation.

From this beginning, the ASA has become one of the nation's largest and fastest growing sports organizations and now sanctions competition in every state through a network of 87 local associations. The ASA has grown from a few hundred teams in the early days to over 250,000 teams today, representing a membership of more than four million.

As the Region 15 Director, I am committed to ensuring that everyone who participates in the sport of softball, at all levels of play, will have a positive experience during this season. Having "fun" is our ultimate goal, along with learning more about the game, improving in whatever your role is on your team, and continuing to develop good sportsmanship.

I am also dedicated in improving our Association to make it more enjoyable for those that participate in our programs and utilize our facilities. I invite you to send comments or feedback – tell us what you like, or what you would like us to change. Knowing what to emphasize or what to fix can only make the Region stronger.

We want to continue to offer excellent value for your registration fee, as we recognize you have a choice of your free time. We will strive to keep these costs as low as possible and continue to provide a professional program throughout our leagues and Championship play.

To that end, I would like to thank the local organizations and businesses who continue to support our local associations through sponsorship and encourage you to patronize these establishments. I would also like to thank the various cities in our region, the governmental and recreation departments and specifically the Community, who supports ASA and all of its programs.

Of course, our Associations could not be successful without volunteers, and I would be remiss if I didn’t take this opportunity to thank parents, family members, and friends who offer their time and give countless hours, to benefit these programs. Volunteering takes many forms – coaching, score-keeping, and/or cheering (encouraging). Your efforts are appreciated more than you will ever know and is what makes the program possible.

Lastly, I would also like to extend special thanks to the Northwest Region 15 Board members. These individuals are truly committed and work many uncompensated hours, in making your experience a positive one.
